Hey guys!
Many of you have been reaching out to us tense about your future and preparations for exams given the delays the pandemic has caused. We get it. It’s not easy, and this pandemic hasn’t spared a single person from some sort of backlog or re-shuffle of plans.
If you’re someone who is stuck trying to find a PLAB date, we would suggest spending the time waiting trying to build up your portfolio in other ways. The easiest way would be to get some teaching experience. Look for opportunities in your hospital where you can teach medical students or interns. It’s important to then collect feedback from them.
Other great things to consider in the meanwhile would be audits or quality improvement projects to help bolster your CV. While it is understandably frustrating to have to deal with uncertainty of this kind when you have a clear goal in mind, try and find the silver lining!
Song of the Week
To stay true to the theme of this week’s newsletter, take a moment to listen to Billy Joel’s Vienna. A fantastic song about taking your time, it is definitely a good tune to remember when you get stressed out.
TV Shows to Binge
There are very few TV shows that accurately depict the life of a doctor and all the intricacies of our role. One that we feel is fairly close would have to be Scrubs. It is another level of understanding to watch an episode and know that what you’ve felt or experienced is being relayed. Sure, there are moments of exaggeration and things that are a little extra, but overall, Scrubs never fails to keep you entertained.
Quote of the Week
