Hey guys!
A lot of times doctors will message us concerned that they will not be given any time off to visit their family members or even just to have the opportunity to travel. When you start out in the NHS, you will find that you will be allocated what they call annual leave. This is basically your time to do whatever you want.
Annual leave is paid and typically you can expect to be given about nine days per four month rotation. The amount of leave you get increases the longer you spend in the NHS, and also depends on your seniority. You can link up annual leave days to days you are already off (weekends, post on-calls, etc) and manage to take a good chunk of time out to have a nice vacation.
The important thing is to always remember to ask for this time off in advanced to ensure it is approved and to make sure you don’t need to swap any shifts. Other than that, you’re set to go!
If you’re wondering where to start in terms of holiday fun, don’t miss out on the videos that we’ve linked below that cover our trips to Istanbul and Newquay!

Song of the Week
The Cars plays the type of songs that transports us back to our teenage years- it’s freeing, light, and upbeat. Every single one of their songs is enough to transport you back in time, and Just What I Needed is a good place to start!
TV Shows to Binge
Looking for a different twist on the conventional murder mystery with some medicine sprinkled on top? Consider watching iZombie, the show about a medical student who, well, becomes a zombie and soon realizes she is able to see the memories of the deceased patients she is performing autopsies on. How does she do that, you ask? By eating their brains of course!
